This Privacy Policy describes how Eckster Labs Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), handles information in connection with your use of the SongByrd mobile application (the "App"). At Eckster Labs Inc., we are deeply committed to your privacy. This policy is designed to clearly inform you about our data practices.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information in a few different ways to provide and improve our Service to you.

2.1. Information You Provide to Us

  • Account Information: When you have used your free song lookups and choose to register for an account, we collect information to create and manage your account. This is handled by Firebase Authentication. We may collect your email address and a unique User ID. You may also choose to sign up using third-party services like Apple or Google, in which case we receive a token to authenticate your account.


2.2. Information We Collect Automatically

  • Usage & Analytics Data: We automatically collect information about your interaction with the Service to help us improve the app and fix bugs. This data is collected through PostHog and Google Analytics for Firebase  and may include your device type, operating system, a unique device identifier, and usage patterns (such as which features you use and for how long). This data is typically aggregated and pseudonymized.


2.3. Subscription Information

  • Purchase Data: When you subscribe to SongByrd Unlimited Plan, your purchase is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We use a third-party service, RevenueCat, to manage your subscription status. We receive a confirmation that a purchase was made and your subscription status (e.g., active trial, paid), which is linked to your anonymous User ID. We do not collect, see, or store your sensitive payment information like credit card numbers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the Service: To create your account, manage your free lookups, and ensure your subscription status is synced across devices.

  • To Process Transactions: To manage your free trial and subscription to SongByrd Unlimited.

  • To Improve Our App: To understand how users interact with our features, identify areas for improvement, diagnose and fix technical problems, and enhance the user experience.

  • To Communicate with You: To respond to your support requests or inquiries.

4. How We Share Your Information (Third-Party Services)

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with the following third-party service providers who help us operate our Service:

  • Google (Firebase): Used for backend infrastructure, user authentication, and analytics.

  • Apple & Google: Used for authentication (Sign in with Apple/Google) and to process App Store & Google Play Store payments.

  • RevenueCat: Used to manage subscription and trial status across platforms.

  • OpenAI: To power our AI analysis features, we send non-personal data (the song title, artist name, and year) to the OpenAI API. No personally identifiable user information is sent with these requests.

  • Spotify: We use the Spotify API to retrieve song metadata (artwork, title, etc.). When you click the Spotify logo in our app, you are taken to their service, which is governed by Spotify's own privacy policy.


  • PostHog: Used for product analytics and to help us understand user behavior to improve the app.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account information as long as your account is active. You have the right to request the deletion of your account and associated personal data. To do so, please contact us at the email address below.

6. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app.
